So it’s not quite infinite.. Here’s the pragmatic version
Instead of keeping track of sub-block locations and so, I just moved to 64 bit floating numbers for the positions. The physics break down (because of rounding errors) at about 16 million meters (blocks) away from the center of the map, so I’m going to put the upper limit at 15 million meters from the center.
(interestingly, the level generator breaks down at about 20 million meters, producing nothing but solid rock)
This means the map area is 30 million meters squared, or about 1.8 times the surface area of the earth.
